The Cardinals Dominated The Airwaves In St. Louis This Year

0

You can say a lot of things about the St. Louis Cardinals: they are currently great, they are one of MLB’s traditional franchises, and they have some all-time great players.

You can go ahead and say that their fans are extremely loyal and passionate, too.

Viewership of Cardinals telecasts on Bally Sports Midwest reached its highest level since 2016.

The information was provided by Nielsen Media Research data.

The Cards’ local TV ratings led MLB for the second year in a row.

Bally Sports Midwest enjoyed a 31% increase in viewership in Cardinals games.

Of course, this is to be expected for good, competitive franchises.

Teams who have a loyal fan base and are always competing to make the playoffs will generate a lot of interest among fans.

It’s logical.

However, there were other parts of the Cardinals season that probably aided the ratings a bit more, too.

“This season was filled with magic, from Albert’s return to Yadi’s and Waino’s milestones to MVP-caliber play from Goldy and Arenado,” Bally Sports Midwest GM and senior vice president Jack Donovan said.

Pujols’ quest for 700 home runs surely aided the ratings, as he returned to his best level at 42 for a couple of months.

Watching Yadier Molina play his last season, enjoying the rejuvenated version of Adam Wainwright, watching Ryan Helsley throw 104 mph in relief, and witnessing Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado’s consistent excellence didn’t hurt.

There were a lot of reasons to watch the 2022 Cardinals.
