It’s definitely a good time to be a Boston Red Sox fan.

The team has played admirably after a slow start and is now 45-35, in sole possession of the second spot in the competitive AL East.

Additionally, Chris Sale could return this week, and fellow left-hander James Paxton should be an option in the second half.

Also, they have a very solid pitching prospect making his MLB debut this week.

“Red Sox make it official: Brayan Bello is Wednesday’s starter,” MassLive.com’s Chris Cotillo tweeted on Tuesday.

He will be making his debut against the very solid Tampa Bay Rays.

Manager Alex Cora had talked about the possibility of bringing Bello up to start in the middle of the week, and now we have some confirmation.

He Has Dominated The High Minors In 2022

Bello has pitched the 2022 season between Double-A and Triple-A, and has compiled some excellent numbers.

The 23-year-old has a 2.33 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP, and a 114/33 K/BB ratio in 85 innings between the two levels.

We still don’t know yet how long will he stay in the bigs, and whether or not his stay depends on his performance (it usually does), but he will have his first chance to shine on Wednesday.

He is talented enough to stick around for the long-term, but we can’t say anything until we see him dominate MLB hitters the way he does in the minor leagues.

His stuff is good enough to miss bats at the MLB level, as he has three pitches that grade as above-average.

His control is not the greatest, but shouldn’t be a huge liability either.

All in all, he has all the ingredients to be the next best Red Sox starter.
