2 Cardinals Stars Had Seasons To Remember

The 2022 MLB season was one for the ages.

For fans of the St. Louis Cardinals, it was one of the more entertaining seasons in recent years.

The team won 93 games and secured their 13th NL Central title.

But there was more to it than just a division title.

Fans got a chance to see a historic season from Paul Goldschmidt, who earned NL MVP honors, and a solid farewell tour for Albert Pujols, who had a hot second half and ended up reaching the 700-homer plateau.

His efforts ultimately earned him the NL Comeback Player of the Year Award.

On Twitter, Gateway Grinders, a local St. Louis sports page, tweeted photos of Goldschmidt and Pujols dressed in suits and holding their awards.

The award Pujols is holding is not the Comeback Player of the Year Award, but it was given to him for his lifetime of achievement throughout his many years playing baseball.

Goldschmidt helped carry the Cardinals to the postseason with his historic season.

The 35-year-old hit .317 with 35 home runs and 115 RBI.

Pujols had a down first half, but got hot in the second half and ultimately finished the season with a .270 batting average, 24 home runs, and 68 RBI.

These two are quite distinguished ballplayers in Cardinals history and gave fans a reason to cheer last season.

Unfortunately, Pujols is now retired, but Goldschmidt will return as he looks to defend his NL MVP crown.

Still, Cardinals fans will cherish the memories both sluggers gave them in 2022 and will hope for another exciting season in 2023.
