It’s already early January, and the Carlos Correa situation remains a mystery.

He has now agreed to terms and seen his deal collapse for medical concerns with two different franchises.

Here is a timeline of what has happened with him.

“Carlos Correa recap: 12/14: agrees to 13-year, $350M deal with Giants. 12/20: concerns with physical. Deal falls through. 12/21: agrees to 12-year, $315M deal with Mets. 12/25: concerns with physical. 1/2: eight days of re-negotiation have failed to find a resolution,” baseball writer Dan Clark tweeted.

The understanding is that the New York Mets will eventually sort things out and secure his signature.

However, the terms of the contract could end up being very different than those he originally agreed to with the Mets.

It’s still noteworthy that more than two weeks have passed since he agreed to sign with the Mets and there is still no end in sight for the saga.

The shortstop had a very productive season in 2022 with the Minnesota Twins.

He slashed .291/.366/.467 with 22 home runs, a 140 wRC+ and 4.4 Wins Above Replacement (WAR).

Defense, as usual, was not a problem for him, as he was magnificent with the glove once again.

The problem apparently stems from an old ankle injury and subsequent surgery he had in 2014 when he was a minor leaguer.

That injury raised some concerns among the San Francisco Giants’ front office when he agreed to a $350 million deal with them; and the Mets also didn’t like what they saw, it seems.

His $315 million pact, as a result, has been paused since Christmas.
