The Baltimore Orioles are coming off a season where they surprised many people in the MLB.

After finishing as the worst team in baseball in 2021, the Orioles bounced back with a successful 83- win season.

Their 83-79 record had them just outside the AL wild-card picture.

With plenty of future cornerstones in place, here are two moves the Orioles need to make this offseason.

Sign A Star Pitcher

As we saw with the Houston Astros winning the World Series, pitching is everything in the postseason.

But for the Orioles, that may be one of their main weaknesses.

They do not have an ace on their roster and need to use this free-agency period to find one.

Baltimore has one of the smallest payrolls in baseball so they can afford any big named pitcher if they are willing to pay up.

The Orioles should be all-in on signing Jacob deGrom or Carlos Rodon.

Each of those pitchers are perennial all-stars and Cy Young candidates.

Add An Experienced Bat

The Orioles have a bunch of young players that stepped up in a big way in 2022.

No one was more important to their team than rookie of the year finalist Adley Rutschman.

But, if the Orioles want to make the playoffs next season they could use a veteran hitter.

Some interesting names that could interest the Orioles or short deals are Jose Abreu, J.D. Martinez, Justin Turner, and Joc Pederson.

It is time for the Orioles to get back to the playoffs.

But, they need to improve their roster and add some star power if they hope to earn that berth.
