Nolan Arenado may end up opting out of his current contract with the St. Louis Cardinals, but even if that is the case, he’ll be taking home some hardware this fall.

Yesterday, Arenado was announced as the winner of the Fielding Bible Award at third base.

Arenado has won the most Fielding Bible Awards of any third baseman since the award was first given out in 2006, winning it in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2020, and 2021.

Arenado is the first Cardinals third baseman to have won the award and is one of two Cardinals to win it this season, along with super utility man Tommy Edman.

Arenado Wins Fielding Bible Award

Arenado has won a Gold Glove in each of his first nine seasons in the big leagues, and he is one of three nominees at third base.

He was one of five Cardinals to receive a Gold Glove last year, joining Edman, Paul Goldschmidt, Tyler O’Neill, and the now departed Harrison Bader.

He’s also one of four Cardinals to be nominated this year, joining Goldschmidt, Edman, and Brendan Donovan.

This is the fifth time Arenado has received the Fielding Bible Award for third basemen.

Arenado was also second behind Ke’Bryan Hayes in Defensive Runs saved in the National League with 19.

He committed just 12 errors during the regular season.

The Cardinals won 93 games and an NL Central title thanks in large part to their defense.

Led by Arenado and Goldschmidt, the Cardinals were second in the National League in Defensive Runs Saved and fourth in all of baseball.
