2 Moves The Mariners Need To Make This Offseason

The Seattle Mariners had a very successful season in 2022.

After making the playoffs for the first time since 2001, they upset the Toronto Blue Jays in the wild-card round.

Before, falling to the eventual World Series champion Houston Astros in the American League Division Series.

Now the tough task for Seattle will be to build off their success of this past season.

Here are two moves they need to make to make a deep postseason run.

Get An Impact Outfielder

Seattle could use another impact player in one of their corner outfield spots.

With Julio Rodriguez locking down centerfield for the foreseeable future, they need to fill in the players around him.

After Rodriguez, no other outfielder gave Seattle consistent production this past season.

Plus, one of their starting outfielders Mitch Haniger is a free agent.

Some names they could go after are Brandon Nimmo, Andrew Benintendi, or even Aaron Judge.

Each of those players can play corner outfield and had a WAR over 4.0 last season.

Find A Utility Infielder

There were some talks that the Mariners might be looking to move shortstop J.P. Crawford to second base.

If that is the case they need a new starting shortstop.

While the market is full of big-named shortstops it might make more sense for the Mariners to spend big money on the outfield.

Instead, finding a utility infielder who can play multiple spots would be useful.

Some names to keep an eye on are Brandon Drury, Josh Harrison, and Jean Segura.

Each of these players has experience playing multiple positions while adding a good bat.
