Major League Baseball is filled with a number of high profile rookies set to have their first full season in 2023.

The American League Rookie of the Year race in particular will be highly contested.

While only one can win the award, there will almost certainly be more rookies that have standout seasons.

Here are two in particular to keep an eye on.

2. Logan O’Hoppe

The Los Angeles Angels acquired catcher Logan O’Hoppe from the Philadelphia Phillies last season and he quickly became the team’s best prospect.

This earned him a call-up in late September, and O’Hoppe performed well in his limited time.

He got 14 at-bats, hitting .286 and adding two RBI.

Now, heading into 2023 it seems like he will be one of the team’s main catching options.

This will slot him into a lineup of Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout, meaning he should get pitches to hit throughout the year.

That could help O’Hoppe ease into the Majors.

On top of that, his defense has impressed throughout his pro career.

All of this together gives O’Hoppe the potential to have a breakout season in 2023.

1. Triston Casas

Triston Casas was another rookie that got a taste of MLB action in 2022.

While he struggled, hitting just .197, Casas showcased his superb power by slugging five homers in just 76 at-bats.

The Red Sox, based on their moves this offseason, seem to be riding with the rookie as their starting first baseman.

He will likely play a big role, and could help take this team to another level.

His power mixes well with solid plate discipline, making him a high on-base hitter.

Over the course of a full season, he has the chance to hit more than 20 home runs and post an OBP higher than .350.

This would be a welcomed addition in the Red Sox lineup.
