An 11-year-old Mississippi boy is recovering after being shot by a police officer who responded to a domestic disturbance call at the child’s home.

Aderrien Murry was shot in the chest by an Indianola Police officer Greg Capers early Saturday morning after the boy’s mother had asked him to call the police after the father of another of her children arrived at her home, angry. On Monday evening, the Indianola Board of Aldermen voted to place Capers on paid administrative leave while investigating the shooting. The family wants the officer fired and charged with the shooting.

Aderrien suffered a collapsed lung, fractured ribs, and a lacerated liver due to the shooting.

He was released from the hospital Wednesday.

Attorney Carlos Moore is representing the family. He spoke with Roland Martin during Friday’s edition of Roland Martin Unfiltered about this shocking police shooting.
