It’s almost time to head back to the Dutton Ranch.
And Paramount is giving us our first full look at what may or may not be the final season of one TV’s biggest shows.
Sadly, we’ll have to wait until November 10 for Yellowstone Season 5.
But the good news is that after several months in which it looked as though the show was coming to an end, there’s now talk of uncanceling Yellowstone!
We’re trying to restrain our excitement until the powers that be make an official announcement on that front.
In the meantime, the new teaser for Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 has us more psyched than we’re prepared to admit.
Intriguingly, fans might be in for a best-of-both-worlds situation with this one.
If the teaser above is any indication, the upcoming episodes will feature all of the spectacle, all of the betrayal and intrigue that fans would expect from the final season of such a proudly epic series.
But usually, the joy of an extravagant finale is undercut by the sorrow of saying goodbye to a beloved show.
That might not be the case here, as Paramount is reportedly interested in bringing the series back for a sixth season.
Said season would almost certainly not feature series star Kevin Costner, but Yellowstone features enough talented actors and compelling characters in its ensemble that we’re sure the show can go on without him.
As you’ve likely heard by now, Costner quit Yellowstone, in part to work on his epic four-part theatrical event Horizon, and in part due to disputes with series creator Taylor Sheridan.
But at this point, Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton is just one of several beloved characters who could compel viewers to viewers to check out a Costner-less version of the show.
And if this is Yellowston’s swan song, then fans will be able to take solace in a whole slew of consolation prizes.
Yes, like a remuda stocked with randy stallions, the Taylor Sheridan universe just keeps expanding.
The well-received spinoff 1883 may have come to an end, but we’ve still got 1923 (starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren) as well as newcomers 1944 and 6666, both of which are currently in production.
Sadly, rumors of a sequel series starring Matthew McConaughey appear to have fizzled.
But another spinoff, The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, has now been confirmed.
So yeah, there’s still plenty of soapy frontier mayhem to come.
Of course, it’s always hard to top the original, and we can’t wait for the November return of Yellowstone.
