The Hermès Birkin bag is the ultimate status symbol in the fashion world. Known for its structured silhouette, luxe leather, and iconic gold hardware, the Birkin isn’t just a bag—it’s an investment. With prices starting at tens of thousands of dollars and soaring into six figures for the most rare versions, the Birkin’s exclusivity makes it impossible to own. But what if you could channel that same fab aesthetic without spending a fortune? Enter Walmart’s Birkin dupe (now being cheekily dubbed the “Wirkin” by “Walmès”), available for under $100. Though, Walmart calls it, the “Fashion Leather Handbag for Women, Ladies Shoulder Bag Fashion Classic First Layer Cowhide Top Handle Satchel.” (I mean, you can tell they packed in the keywords for search purposes.)

About the Birkin Dupe at Walmart

This affordable Birkin alternative, from brand BESTSPR, captures the Birkin’s classic shape, elegant handles, and even a similar lock-and-key detail that mimics the original’s signature hardware. (Whether or not, this is okay with Hermès, we highly doubt it.) While this handbag doesn’t carry the Hermès name — or the price tag — the budget Walmart alternative resembles the real deal from afar, at a quick glance. Upon closer inspection, Birkin aficionados know

Walmart’s site highlights the following features in its “Wirkin” product listing (which we’ve summarized below because the original copy reads like it was written by AI):

  • Upgraded hardware made with international cold ironing technology that won’t easily fade
  • Exquisite craftsmanship hand-made with raw materials
  • Excellent quality with a first layer of cowhide
  • Comes with a golden lock to increase the security of bag anti-theft
  • Internal structure is stylish, practical al and simple

It comes in various colors, like: pink, black, green, rose red, yellow, purple, denim blue, sapphire blue, and most notably, orange—just to name a few. And, you can also get it in three different sizes that range from $78 to $102.

UPDATE: We Bought the Wirkin!

We lucked out and got a black “Wirkin” from Walmart before her viral status. While it took a couple of weeks for her to arrive from wherever she came from, she’s finally here! The bag looks good. If she weren’t trying to be a Birkin, she’d be a perfectly fine carryall. Take a look:

She arrived protected in plastic and tissue. But, she did have a distinct factory smell. The kind only recognized in products made in bulk somewhere far, far away that then shipped via metal cargo.

The material is quite stiff. Is it really leather? We’re not sure honestly. The gold detailing is nice, but subtly different from that of the real Birkin.

The inside has a nice striped fabric and pockets—great for organizing your belongings.

And, she has feet! We like that when you set her down, she makes a clink with the metal details on her bottom. That said, the bag needs some stretch work to make her feel soft and worn. There are folds on the bottom and sides that out her as a fraud.

All in all, she’s an OK bag. But is she a Birkin? No. Will we use her? Maybe, but with hesitation and a hint of embarrassment. We’d much rather use a nicely crafted bag that’s owning who she is, rather than one that’s trying to be something she’s not.
