Brock Purdy’s seemingly magical run with the San Francisco 49ers in the 2022 season came to an end in the NFC Championship Game.

In an unfortunate series of events, Purdy tore his UCL in the big game, ending his season, and the 49ers’ chances at a title.

While Purdy wasn’t expected to be the team’s starter, he won over his teammates, along with the rest of the country.

In a recent update from David Lombardi, he revealed that Purdy will be able to throw during the first week of June.

As Lombardi puts it, this is on time for Purdy’s recovery, as he looks to resume his place as the 49ers’ starter.

A UCL injury can be catastrophic for any thrower, either a pitcher in baseball or in Purdy’s case, a quarterback.

If athletes can keep their structural ligaments in place, however, they can return as expected.

As a former seventh-round draft pick, Purdy was never supposed to be an NFL starter.

Now that he’s been given his chance, however, he looks to make the most of it, assuming he can throw similarly.

Trey Lance is waiting in the wings, suffering an injury of his own last year.

He was a former first-round pick, a highly-regarded yet polarizing prospect.

The team has also added Sam Darnold, and now has one of the youngest quarterback rooms in the entire league.

As the next few months go by, there will be increased clarity about the 49ers’ quarterback situation.

Will Purdy be the team’s long-term answer for the position?
