Is 2023 The Season The Angels Get Back To The Playoffs?

No MLB team has more pressure to make the playoffs in 2023 than the Los Angeles Angels.

The Angels have not played in the postseason since 2014, which is unacceptable for a team with Mike Trout all those years.

Los Angeles has once again had a season full of moves and acquisitions to try and improve their roster.

Some of the moves they made included trading for outfielder Hunter Renfroe and signing pitcher Tyler Anderson.

Likewise, they added two utility infielders, Gio Urshela and Brandon Drury.

Also, the Angels will bring back the most dynamic player in the sport, Shohei Ohtani.

One of the biggest issues with the Angels has been their inability to stay healthy.

Trout has not played more than 140 games in a season since 2016.

He has suffered many different injuries which are a cause for concern as he enters his 30s.

Also, Anthony Rendon simply cannot get on the field.

Since signing with the Angels in 2020, Rendon has not played more than 58 games in a year.

Even though the 2020 season was only 60 games.

He was expected to be a cornerstone player for the Angels, and instead, he spends more time on the injured list.

So if the Angles want to have any chance at success in 2023, their best players must stay on the field.

Having two perennial MVP candidates on the field for a whole season (Trout/Ohtani) is a massive boost for LA.

Playing in a tough AL West with two playoff teams from last year, the Angels will have their work cut out for them.

Their pitching staff has improved, and their lineup has improved, so now is the time to show they can return to the playoffs.
