Animal Collective’s Panda Bear Joins Rusty Santos for New Song “Mirror”: Listen

Rusty Santos has worked with Panda Bear on multiple occasions as the producer of Buoys, Person Pitch, and Animal Collective’s Sung Tongs. The two have now collaborated on the new song “Mirror.” Listen below.

“This song is about a conversation between the mind and the higher self,” Santos said in a statement. “I wanted [Panda Bear aka] Noah Lennox to sing on it, and he wrote his own lyrics for his verses, which cemented the concept. One voice is the higher self, and the other is the lower, representing an internal conversation. The instrumental centers on a guitar sample by Main Key, and Soldado contributes the whistle hook that completes the vibe.”

“Mirror” is the second single from Santos’ forthcoming album, New Wave in California, following the Jackie Mendoza collaboration “Halo Dive.” The album follows Santos’ 2022 LP, High Reality, and it comes out July 14.

On Saturday, July 22, Panda Bear and his Reset collaborator, Sonic Boom, are performing at Chicago’s Pitchfork Music Festival. Tickets are on sale now.
