Connecting Rural Louisiana

0

The town of Ville Platte, Louisiana ranks as one of the bottom five communities in the country when it comes to slow internet speeds. And the story is the same for many rural areas across the state. During COVID-19, when everything from doctor visits to public schools moved online, many rural communities were shut out due to a lack of high-speed internet.

That’s why Louisiana 5th District Congresswoman Julia Letlow is proud that she and members of the house Ag Committee marked up a bipartisan bill to improve broadband in rural areas across the country. The Broadband for Rural America Act would provide $43 billion to expand broadband into underserved and unserved areas over the next eight years.
