Your favorite firefighter show is back!

That’s right, 9-1-1 has finally returned to us, and they’re bringing all the things we love about the show: emergencies, high-stakes, character stories, and Bobby at a new job!

Well, that last thing is not something we’ve come to love, but it’s our new reality nonetheless. But lucky for everyone, we’ve got an exclusive sneak peek from the season 8 premiere of Bobby’s new role, which looks shockingly familiar to his old one. Sort of.

When 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 10 ended, Bobby was out as captain at the 118, and in his place was Vincent Gerrard, whom you’ll remember as Chimney and Hen’s first captain when they joined the 118.

It was a major blow to the 118 as a whole, and we’ll see how Gerrard’s presence affects the team in the much-anticipated premiere.

But what does no Bobby at the 118 mean? How has he been spending his time?

Well, Bobby’s got himself a new job in a flashy location, as you’ll see in this clip exclusive to TV Fanatic.

Bless Bobby’s heart!

The Chief sending him to be a technical advisor on a firefighting show certainly wasn’t something Bobby ever foresaw himself doing. When he comes on set to advise the team, he looks none too pleased about how the 119 are doing things.

It’s a hilarious job for Bobby, of all people, to have, considering how non-impressed he appears to be with the whole operation at hand. But it’s also kind of the perfect job and good for the television crew because you’re getting help from one of Los Angeles’s finest!

Even though they don’t seem that impressed with him either.

Time will tell how long Bobby will be with the 119 as they pump and dump their way through various fires, but who doesn’t love a little show-within-a-show fun?

I’m sure Athena is getting quite the chuckle out of her hubby’s new line of work!

Elsewhere during this jampacked hour, we know that a bee-nado will invade the City of Angels, as we’ve seen from numerous ads and promos. And 22 million bees are sure to pack a punch and cause a lot of chaos.

The 118 should be kept plenty busy with all the emergencies sure to result from bee-related issues.

On the personal front, we should see some fallout from the events of the season 7 finale, including a look at Eddie’s life now that Christopher has moved out of his home and in with his grandparents.

It will be quite the change for Eddie, who’s not at all used to not having Christopher with him since he’s been in California. How is he coping with things? What has he been up to?

Besides growing himself one hell of a mustache, we’ll have to wait and see what we find out this season!

For Hen, she and Karen will still be looking to get Mara back home with them, but they can rest somewhat easy knowing she’s safe with their beloved friends Chimney and Maddie, who have taken Mara in.

And Buck? Well, if his tense demeanor is anything to go by, he looks to be having quite a time with the new captain!

It wouldn’t be a 9-1-1 season premiere without a healthy dose of action and drama, and this one will surely bring it in spades.

Please check out the clip above and let us know what you think about Bobby’s new job in the comments below.

And please tell us what you’re most excited about seeing this season!
