Babyface sang “America the Beautiful” at tonight’s Super Bowl, and you can watch it go down below. The venerable R&B singer/composer/producer brought his acoustic guitar rendition to Arizona’s State Farm Stadium ahead of kickoff, prior to Chris Stapleton’s performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Rihanna is set to headline the official halftime show—her first public performance in five years.

Babyface, a pop-soul heavyweight in the 1980s and ’90s, released his latest LP, Girls Night Out, in 2021; Ella Mai, Kehlani, and Ari Lennox were among its featured artists. Also at tonight’s Super Bowl, Sheryl Lee Ralph performed “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

At last year’s Super Bowl, Mickey Guyton sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” and Jhené Aiko sang “America the Beautiful.” A hip-hop halftime show brought together Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, and Eminem.
