Shopping events… They come and go, and sometimes they can be pretty overwhelming, with deals and offers blasting from everywhere. Some people find it frustrating, some just don’t care, but for many it’s a great opportunity to get that flagship phone at half price, or snatch a tablet for the kid.

There’s material for a thousand-page essay on the ethics of these shopping events, the prices, whether or not the discounts are real, but at the end of the day, if people are happy with their purchases, maybe we should throw that thousand-page essay in the bin. Or keep it stowed away, at least for the time being.

Amazon Prime Day is one of the biggest shopping events out there, rivaled only by Black Friday, and it’s basically hours away now. It’s not Christmas binge-shopping but buying gadgets in the Summer certainly has an appeal.

So, do you have a shortlist of things you’re looking forward to buying this Prime Day? Most of the big smartphone reveals are happening toward the end of the year, so there’s not much new stuff to be hyped about but still, there are some older devices worth snatching.
