Video Shows Chargers Rookie Making A Great First Impression

As usual, the Los Angeles Chargers seem to feel pretty good about their chances of making some serious noise during the upcoming NFL season.

They always seem to fall short of expectations and break the hearts of their fans, but they have assembled an impressive roster.

Last month, they took wide receiver Quentin Johnston with the No. 21 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, and they’re hoping he will become the legitimate speed threat downfield they have lacked for a while.

For the last few years, Los Angeles has had a very solid wideout duo in Keenan Allen, a five-time Pro Bowler, and Mike Williams, whose height makes him a nice threat in the red zone.

But the team has had trouble stretching the field and making big-yardage plays since neither Allen nor Williams are particularly fleet-footed.

Johnston, on the other hand, has the potential to be a vertical threat.

At Texas Christian University, he managed to put up 1,069 yards and six touchdowns last season, and while those numbers may not be extremely impressive, many felt he was one of the best, if not the best speed threat in this year’s draft.

With new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, many expect the Chargers to play a more aggressive, up-tempo style as opposed to the conservative approach they had in 2022 that involved lots of check-down passes.

They may not have a real shot at reaching the Super Bowl, but winning one playoff game could represent a decently successful season for them, not to mention a step forward.
