The Yankees Have Blown Past Their 2021 Pace In The Standings

After 82 games a season ago, the New York Yankees were mired at .500.

They were seemingly buried in a top-heavy American League East division.

Though the Yankees pulled it together and finished 92-70, earning the second AL Wild Card, they were unable to advance past the Boston Red Sox in the Wild Card Game.

Fast forward to 2022, and the Yankees now have the best record in all of baseball.

A 16-0 blowout victory at PNC Park over the Pittsburgh Pirates gave them win No. 59 on the year.

They now sit at 59-23 after 82 games this season, which shatters their mark from the previous year, as seen in the tweet below.

From .500 To The Top

The lead in the AL East is now up to 14 games for the Yanks.

These Bronx Bombers have seemingly blown past everybody and have gone on an absolutely insane run lately.

This sets them up quite nicely for their four-game series against the Red Sox this weekend.

Them being .500 after 82 games last season all seems like a distant memory.

That’s because this year they are on pace to shatter the 100-win mark and go wire to wire.

Teams are going to be hard-pressed to stop the Bronx Bombers as we enter the early stages of the pennant race.

Any doubts that people had about the Yankees entering the season have now been put to rest.

This ballclub appears to be a walking juggernaut.

59-23 through 82 games is impressive, but it almost completely negates their struggles from a year ago.

You wouldn’t look at the Yankees now and be able to make sense of the fact that they were 41-41 after 82 games a season ago.

But that’s all a mirage now.
