The Lakers Will Have To Wait On LeBron James

Although the Los Angeles Lakers have not completely fallen apart without LeBron James, they really are eager to have him back as soon as possible.

On March 2, the Lakers announced that the four-time champion was dealing with a tendon injury in his foot and would be evaluated again in three weeks.

James has said that he is feeling better and has been seen on the sidelines at games and on the court during practice sessions.

This led many to think that his return could be imminent.

NBA insider Brian Windhorst says that might not be the case.

Speaking to The Hoop Collective Podcast, Windhorst opened up about James’ status:

“LeBron [James] is not close to returning from what I’m told… I know that LeBron has played through injuries in the past. I’m not 100% sure if this is an injury you can play through.”

The Lakers are currently 34-36 right now and are sitting in the ninth spot in the West.

They have accumulated a few impressive wins with James out of the game but it’s clear they’d be even better if he was healthy and back on the court.

Players such as Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell have stepped up in James’ absence.

But they have failed to climb up the standings much and time is running out.

Because of Windhorst’s statement, fans of the team might need to accept the fact that they might not see James again in this regular season.

That would mean that the players who have improved without him will need to push even harder.

The Lakers have 12 more games in the season, including some tough ones against the Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and others.

Will they have James’ help for any of them?
