The Jets Have Gone All-Out In Trying To Recruit Aaron Rodgers

For yet another offseason, everyone is awaiting whether Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will remain with his current team or head elsewhere.

The difference between this offseason and last is that there is a very serious suitor for him if he ends up leaving the Packers.

That suitor is the New York Jets, whose owner, Woody Johnson, reportedly flew to Southern California to meet with the four-time MVP.

But he isn’t the only one courting Rodgers, as Defensive Rookie of the Year Sauce Gardner, All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, and the brother of head coach Robert Saleh have all joined in the act.

The Jets started the 2022 season 6-3, and although they won only one more game afterward and missed the playoffs, they appear to have the outline of a team that has lots of promise and potential.

Their biggest need is at quarterback, as second-year man Zach Wilson didn’t work out.

New York ranked fourth in points and total yards allowed, but was just 29th in points scored and 25th in total yards gained, and a spry Rodgers could greatly improve those numbers.

However, he is 39 years of age, and after his numbers dipped in 2022, it is possible he is now in a slow decline.

Even if he isn’t, he clearly would only be a stopgap solution for the Jets, and his behavior off the field could come into play if things don’t turn out the way he would like.

Still, Rodgers going to the Jets would make an already-loaded AFC even more interesting next season.
