The Cardinals Have Been A Consistent Franchise For Generations
The St. Louis Cardinals may not be the powerhouse they were in the early 2010s, but still remain one of Major League Baseball’s most successful franchises.
The team has had 15 consecutive winning seasons, with their last losing season coming in 2007.
St. Louis has also reached the postseason for four consecutive years, and with players such as Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, and Willson Contreras on their roster, they look prepared to enjoy a fifth straight postseason experience in 2023.
On Twitter, a fan made a list of each team in the National League and the most recent season in which they owned the worst record in all of baseball.

For the Cardinals, that year was 1918.
Granted, there have been some moments of heartache in Cardinals history.
The 1970s were not their most successful decade, and they also have not reached the NLCS since 2019.
Still, they remain a consistent postseason contender.
The last time St. Louis fell short of October was 2018, and they still finished that season right in the thick of the race, winning 88 games.
Every other team in the National League has experienced a season in which they owned the worst record in baseball in much more recent years.
The Houston Astros are of course now an American League team, but their last season in the National League was 2012, and they had the worst record in the league.
Even the Los Angeles Dodgers’ most recent season at the bottom was long after the Cardinals had their last season below everybody else.
