Should Aaron Judge Be MLB’s Highest-Paid Player?

The MLB free agency period has always been a time when we see some massive contracts.

It seems like each season the top free agents available are upping the ante.

This season we have a free agent that just put together one of the best seasons in MLB history.

That player is Aaron Judge, who deserves to be MLB’s highest-paid player.

In a “what have you done for me lately” league, no one has been better than Judge.

The 30-year is not expected to get the length of a contract that we have seen others get in years past.

But, his average annual value should be the highest in baseball.

The current highest-paid position player in baseball is Mike Trout, averaging just over $35 million at the time he signed his contract.

Judge has a case to be making around $40 million over a year after his 62-home run campaign.

Trout has had a better career than Judge, but he has never had a season like the one the Yankees outfielder had last year.

There are reports that Judge was offered an AAV of $37.5 million from the Yankees, but he is looking for more.

Which Team Will Pay Up?

It appears as if the Judge sweepstakes have come down to the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants.

Both teams are looking to do whatever necessary to bring the AL MVP to their city.

But, the Giants seem more desperate to add a star.

It seems likely they would be willing to pay Judge closer to $40 million per year.

The bidding war between the Giants and Yankees is going to be on for the ages.

As only one team will walk away happy with the 2022 AL MVP on their payroll.
