Shohei Ohtani Made His 2022 MVP Case To Begin The Week
The reigning American League MVP is back at it again.
After giving the Los Angeles Angels an eight-RBI game at the plate on Tuesday night, Shohei Ohtani made the start against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday and delivered a strong performance on the mound.
Ohtani not only went eight shutout innings, but also struck out a career-high 13 batters as the Angels avoided the sweep with a 5-0 victory.
Ohtani improved his record on the season to 6-4 and lowered his ERA to 2.90.
MLB took to Twitter after the game to celebrate Ohtani’s encore following such a great performance at the plate.
A career-high 8 RBI last night and a career-high 13 Ks tonight.

What a way to follow up such a great night.
One night, he drives in eight runs.
The next, he has perhaps the best pitching performance of his career and comes through when the Angels need him most, following a gut-wrenching loss.
He not only played the role of stopper and helped the Angels avoid being swept by the Royals, but he completely dominated this Royals lineup and had perhaps the game of his life.
There isn’t a single thing that Ohtani can’t do on the baseball field.
At this point, we’ve all grown accustomed to watching him belt 400+ foot home runs and pitch like an ace on the mound.
He’s not a guy you want to take for granted.
You don’t want to face him when the game is on the line if he’s hitting, and you don’t want to face him while he’s pitching either.
On top of 13 strikeouts, he only walked one batter and allowed just two hits.
That’s what dominance looks like.
Shohei sure put on a show last night.
