For now, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo remains with the San Francisco 49ers even if they have declared that he is available via trade.

Letting him continue his career elsewhere means that there’s no turning back from Trey Lance being their starter,

The surgery on his throwing shoulder might have hurt his chances of getting traded.

Teams who might be interested in him would like to know if he has fully recovered from the operation.

Otherwise, there’s no sense initiating a trade if he couldn’t play anyway.

That said, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero shared a quote from Garoppolo’s agent, Don Yee.

Pelissero asked Yee about finding a trade partner and the possibility of joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Yee said, “He’s progressing well and on schedule. We’re optimistic about the upcoming season. Over the weekend, a report came out that asserted that I had spoken to a media member about his future, but the report was false.”

Therefore, the rumor claiming that the Buccaneers inquired about Garoppolo is false.

Without any trades, Garoppolo remains on San Francisco’s payroll and will earn a base salary of $24.2 million this season.

When Will Garoppolo Be Traded?

The 49ers need to act fast if they want to have him play elsewhere.

It would be better if they can deal him to a new team before training camps start.

That said, Pelissero added, “Team execs are just starting to come back from vacation. Most training camps open in two weeks, and the expectation within the league continues to be that Garoppolo is traded — somewhere — by the end of the month.”

If this prediction comes true, then the other team will be revealed soon.

There’s also a chance that San Francisco will pay a portion of his 2022 salary just to complete the trade.
