NBA Insider Shares Details Of The New Zion Williamson Contract
Things are about to get very, very exciting for the New Orleans Pelicans again.
After more than a year away, Zion Williamson is set to return to his team and is eager to prove to everyone just how talented and special he still is.
The Pelicans definitely still believe in him.
They believe in him so much, in fact, that they just signed him to a five-year, $231 million contract extension that will keep the player in the Big Easy all the way through the 2027-28 season.
Williamson said after the season ended, “I couldn’t sign it fast enough.” Indeed, the All-Star locks in commitment to New Orleans.
The deal is expected to include protections that both sides were sorting through overnight and will finalize, sources said. https://t.co/n0hyRwRk9e

Williamson sounded elated for the deal earlier this year, exclaiming, “I couldn’t sign it fast enough.”
For Pelicans fans, the new season can’t get here fast enough.
Forget The Rumors
Over the last year, there has been an awful lot of speculation and rumors swirling around Williamson and his future with the Pelicans.
Some rumors have said that Williamson was never going to come back while others said he was horribly out of shape and terribly unhappy in New Orleans.
But all of that is in the past and one thing is abundantly clear now: not only is Williamson looking fit and ready to play, he wants to.
He will be re-joining a Pelicans team that is much, much better than people expected.
Yes, they didn’t make it out of the first round of the playoffs but they showed a lot of skill and potential.
The lineup featuring Brandon Ingram, CJ McCollum, Herb Jones, Jonas Valanciunas, and Devonte’ Graham just works.
And it’ll get even better with Williamson at the center of it all.
When healthy, Williamson puts up 25.7 points, 7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists a game.
The man is a beast and the beast is ready to rise again in New Orleans.
