MLB Fans Have A Special Countdown To Watch

Baseball fans will have the chance to enjoy perhaps the most exciting international competition in the sport in March, 2023.

The 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC), organized by MLB, is right around the corner.

In fact, the countdown is officially on.

Before the start of the 2023 MLB season, stars from 20 countries will take the field and play for the right to be called world champions.

The 16 teams that took part in the 2017 WBC have been invited once again, and four additional squads earned their place in qualifying tournaments.

Three countries will be making their WBC debut: the Czech Republic, Great Britain, and Nicaragua, while Panama returns after missing out on two editions.

Besides those four, the usual suspects will participate: Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, United States, Venezuela, China, Chinese Taipei, Japan, South Korea, and Australia.

The 20 nations are divided in four pools of five teams each.

Everything Is Ready For The Fifth Edition Of The WBC

After facing every team in their own groups, the top two ranked nations will advance to the second round, effectively the quarterfinals of the tournament.

From there, the tournament goes on using a bracket style.

From the semifinals on, it goes by the name of “Championship Round.”

The last WBC edition took place in 2017, with the first title ever for Team USA.

The fifth edition of the WBC was scheduled for 2021, but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and its lingering effects last year.

The right conditions to play are finally there, and baseball fans all over the world will get to enjoy the best baseball players in the planet.
