Max Scherzer Has Made A Habit Of Dominating The Reds

Max Scherzer made his long-awaited return to the New York Mets on Tuesday night, taking the mound for the first time since an oblique injury landed him on the injured list.

Scherzer was back in full form on Tuesday as well, pitching six scoreless innings against the Cincinnati Reds and striking out 11 hitters.

Unfortunately, even Scherzer’s 11-strikeout performance was not enough for the Mets to sneak out a victory, as the Reds won on Mike Moustakas‘ walk-off sac-fly in the ninth.

At the same time, Scherzer has a solid track record of beating the Reds at Great American Ballpark, and he lowered his career ERA in Cincinnati to 0.27, according to Anthony DiComo on Twitter.

Locked In

Sometimes, a pitcher will see another team’s jersey and simply be locked in.

That seems to be the case for Scherzer when he pitches against the Reds in Cincinnati.

When you can post an ERA below 1 against any team, that means you’re doing something right.

Scherzer has done a lot right over the course of his career and dominating at Great American Ballpark is one of those things for him.

But it shouldn’t come as any surprise to anybody in baseball.

Scherzer is a gamer.

He showed up last night ready to pitch and he absolutely dominated.

He had everything in control and made his presence felt once again as he blew Reds hitters away.

Mad Max is back in full force.

He’s healthy again and ready to lead the Mets to October for the first time since 2016.

The Reds are one of many teams that don’t have a track record of success against Scherzer.

No shame in that.
