Louisiana’s Historical Floods By The Staggering Numbers

Tucked amidst the Ryan Lochte headlines is something truly historic and tragic is happening stateside: flooding so severe and widespread in Southern Louisiana that experts say it’s the worst natural disaster since Hurricane Sandy.

The Baton Rouge area has been pummeled with heavy rain recently, and as the waters have risen, so has the human and fiscal costs.

Right now, experts estimate $30 million in repairs are necessary, and that number will only rise. So far, 13 people have lost their lives.
