Wide receiver Julian Edelman retired after 12 NFL seasons, all with the New England Patriots.

By then, he had won three Super Bowls and was named Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl LIII.

The seventh-round pick out of Kent State finished with 6,822 yards and 36 touchdowns.

Edelman also had 2,612 return yards and four touchdowns.

But those numbers could go back up if he decides to play again.

However, he will only suit up for one team if he does return.

NFL insider Dov Kleiman shared Edelman’s statement wherein he will only consider a return if it is for the Patriots.

In the short clip that Kleiman also shared, Edelman said that resting for one year allowed him to deal with his injuries.

With all of his nagging physical conditions done, he is opening the possibility of suiting up for New England again.

To be fair, the Patriots should invite him to training camp and let him fight for one of the roster spots.

If he’s still good enough to play, returning to the Patriots should not be a problem.

They could use some help in the position with DeVante Parker, Kendrick Bourne, and Jakobi Meyers as their top receivers.

Better For Edelman To Enjoy His Post-Football Life

Being away from the game for one year means that Edelman has more work to do.

He must work himself back to game shape before engaging on the field.

Edelman is trying to pull off an Eric Weddle, wherein the safety returned to the Los Angeles Rams after a two-year retirement.

However, there are other avenues for him to stay close to the game he loves.

He can be a commentator or analyst given that he is never shy in speaking up his mind.

After all, his return to the field could be disastrous.
