The last few years have been up and down for Jameis Winston.

2023 will mark Winston’s ninth NFL season, and he is a current member of the New Orleans Saints.

After the 2022 season, many believed that Winston would have an opportunity to be the Saints’ starter.

Unfortunately for him, the team signed Derek Carr, with the intent to go in a different direction at the position.

Despite this signing, Winston has said, “I know that I’m still a starting quarterback in this league,” via an interview with ESPN’s Katherine Terrell.

Winston began his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, starting 16 games for them in 2015, 2016, and 2019.

He set the NFL world ablaze in 2019, passing for 5,109 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions.

During that season, Winston had a “high risk, high reward” approach to the quarterback position.

In the three years after, Winston has primarily been in a backup role, starting just 10 games in these three years.

Despite being relegated to a backup role, Winston believes that he still has what it takes to be a starter in the NFL.

Winston’s odds of starting for the Saints this season are doubtful, given the amount of money that the team paid Carr.

Will another team take a chance on him?

Recent videos have circulated from the Buccaneers’ building, showing the underwhelming progress of Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask.

If this trend continues, Winston could find himself on a new team, perhaps, even a former NFL team.
