Incredible drone footage shows of the scale of flooding and damage in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida on Tuesday (31 August).

Hundreds of thousands of people in the state sweltered in the aftermath of the hurricane as many were left with no power, no running water and no clear idea of when things might improve.

Officials in New Orleans announced seven places around the city where people could get a hot meal and sit in some much-needed air conditioning.
