Heat Player Makes Bold Claim About 2013 NBA Finals
Perhaps the biggest and most famous clutch shot in NBA Finals history was the one Ray Allen hit near the end of the fourth quarter of Game 6 of the 2013 championship series to force overtime.
His Miami Heat went on to win that game, and they proceeded to take Game 7 in order to claim their second straight world championship.
Guard Mario Chalmers, who played on that Heat team, was wide open right before Allen launched his heroic shot, and he said he wanted the ball and he would’ve hit a 3-pointer had he gotten the ball.

Going into that contest, Miami trailed the San Antonio Spurs 3-2 in the series, and it was down by three points with just seconds left with its championship hopes hanging by a thread.
Some have said that Allen’s shot helped to save and enhance the legacy of LeBron James, who had led the Heat to the NBA title the year before but was thus far having a lackluster series.
James shot just 11-of-26 in Game 6 and had multiple turnovers in crunch time, but he went on to put up 37 points and 12 rebounds in Game 7 en route to his second straight finals MVP award.
Stephen Curry may be the greatest outside shooter in basketball history, but Allen isn’t that far behind.
He was a highly lethal shooter who ended his career averaging 18.9 points a game while hitting 40.0 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc.
Prior to arriving in Miami for the 2012-13 season, he had played a big role in the Boston Celtics winning it all in 2008, and he had come extremely close to earning a second ring in 2010.
