Freddie Freeman’s Former Agent Responds To Shocking Claims
Freddie Freeman shocked everybody in baseball when he fired his agent, Casey Close, earlier this week.
The Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman is in the first year of his six-year, $162 million deal and has been a godsend for them.
His power numbers are down, but he’s still hitting .308 with an .888 OPS.
But there’s a potential reason behind why Freeman fired Close.
Close allegedly did not inform Freeman of the Atlanta Braves’ final offer in free agency, and knew that if Freeman saw it, he would have accepted it and returned to his old club.
Excel Sports, the agency Close is a part of, tweeted a statement on behalf of Close, claiming that the allegations are false.

The Hidden Offer
This is a bad look for Close and Excel Sports if he did indeed hide that final offer from Freeman.
It’s understandable why an agent would want the player he represents to take the best offer, but to hide an offer from the player, especially when the player wants to return to his old team, is not a good move.
Freeman also allegedly found out about Close’s actions over the weekend when the Dodgers were in Atlanta playing the defending World Series champions, which makes it even worse.
It seems that is the reason why Freeman let Close go, and it’s totally understandable why he did.
Freeman wanted to go back to Atlanta.
He had called Atlanta home for 12 years.
But his time there was ultimately cut short thanks to Close allegedly not disclosing the details of Atlanta’s final offer.
As of now, Freeman is listed as self-represented, and chances are he may stay that way for a while.
