The Los Angeles Dodgers visited the Atlanta Braves over the weekend in a thrilling series between two of the best teams in baseball.

Fans were looking forward to seeing Freddie Freeman, who played in Atlanta for over a decade, with his new uniform.

Freeman?

He sounds like he was a bit anxious about returning to what was his home for so many years.

He actually said he is glad the series is over.

“Freddie Freeman: ‘I’ve been thinking about this for three months to be honest with you. I’m just kind of glad it’s over. So I can just worry about baseball now,’” The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya tweeted, quoting the star first baseman.

If it’s a little weird for fans to see Freeman in a different uniform: it’s not hard to imagine the situation being odd for the player, too.

Atlanta Fans Love Freeman

Fans welcomed him to Truist Park with a standing ovation in a touching moment.

The Braves not only opted against giving Freeman the six-year deal he was looking for, but traded for his replacement – Matt Olson – and gave him a larger contract than the one Freeman ended up signing with the Dodgers.

The 2022 season, so far, has been productive for the 32-year-old former MVP winner.

In 321 plate appearances, Freeman is slashing .305/.389/.491 with eight home runs and 46 RBI, with six steals for good measure.

He is not on the best home run pace, but he has been noticeably better in the second half in recent seasons, so there is hope around the Dodgers’ front office and fans that he can start hitting more balls out of the park soon.

In any case, he has been productive.
