Austin Riley Comments On His Big Night Against Phillies

The Atlanta Braves squared off with the defending National League champion Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday night.
The Phillies eliminated the Braves in the NLDS last season.
But in a back-and-forth game, Atlanta emerged victorious, winning by a score of 8-5 over the Phils.
Leading the way was Austin Riley, who picked up two hits, both of which were towering home runs that traveled at least 455 feet.
After the Braves secured their victory, Lauren Gardner of MLB Network got a chance to catch up with Atlanta’s star third baseman, who discussed his epic performance and what it took for him to lead the Braves to a win.
“Staying inside myself, not trying to do too much and good things happened.”

Riley said that the important thing for him to do in Thursday’s game was to try to find a pitch that was out over the plate and something he could do some damage with.
He also stressed the importance of staying within himself and not trying to do too much.
Riley was facing right-hander Aaron Nola, who he’s faced more than any other pitcher during his career.
The Braves slugger now has four home runs against Nola in his career.
Riley said that it was important for him to try and build off of his last few games and keep that momentum rolling.
In the end, Riley had a big night, going 2-for-5 and driving in three runs while also scoring two thanks to his towering home runs off of Nola.
Atlanta took the top spot in the National League with their win, improving to 31-19 on the year.
