Angels Deal With Yet Another Setback Tuesday Night

The Los Angeles Angels, once one of the top teams in the American League in the first few weeks of the season, have had to deal with a lot of adversity recently.

The 14-game losing streak, the firing of manager Joe Maddon, the season-ending injury to Anthony Rendon, the Mike Trout 0-for-26 stretch, and many, many other things have derailed their season.

They are 36-41 at the moment, with at least some hope to make the postseason eventually by virtue of the expanded format, but they no longer look like a top team even with Trout and Shohei Ohtani on the roster.

Additionally, they will have to deal with another injured player.

On Tuesday night, outfielder Brandon Marsh, one of the best prospects in the organization, had to leave with a contusion on his right knee.

The Injury Shouldn’t Be A Long-Term Concern

He is, as of Wednesday afternoon, considered day-to-day with the ailment.

The injury doesn’t sound like a long-term concern, but the Angels should be able to provide more details on Wednesday before the series finale against the Chicago White Sox.

The young player finished 0-for-2 with a strikeout on Tuesday, and has six homers, 31 RBI, four steals, and 27 runs through 69 games played this year.

Unfortunately, that also comes with a .236 batting average and a putrid .645 OPS.

He was one of the team’s hottest hitters to open the year, but has seen his numbers slowly decline.

It’s evident he is not yet a finished product, but the Angels need him to perform.

He will have to get fully healthy first, though.
